The Thai Ministry of Education has introduced strict guidelines to limit the use of electronic devices in classrooms. These rules aim to regulate how students use their phones and tablets during school hours. Under the new regulations, the use of digital devices is only allowed with the teacher’s permission. This permission is granted specifically for learning activities or in emergency situations. The policy emphasizes that devices should not be used freely during lessons. The decision to implement these restrictions was based on research indicating that excessive screen time—more than 6.5 hours daily—can negatively affect students’ concentration and intelligence development. The government aims to promote healthier study habits and improve focus among students. Schools are given the authority to establish their own specific rules regarding device management. For example, schools may require students to leave their phones in lockers or deposit them at the beginning of the day to minimize distractions. Finally, the government encourages activities outside of digital screens, such as physical exercise, music, and sports.
